My name is Ryan Sanada and I am the Assistant General Counsel and a Senior HR Consultant at the Hawaii Employers Council (“HEC”). HEC is Hawaii’s premier employers’ resource for human resource management and labor relations. When it comes to employment related issues, I believe “the best defense is a good offense.” In other words, I prefer being pro-active (as opposed to reactive) when it comes to managing your workforce. My philosophy is that the best strategy for handling employment lawsuits and claims is to prevent them from occurring in the first place.
Therefore, I devote a significant portion of my time to counseling employers in labor and employment matters, with the goal of helping employers and human resources professionals navigate their way through complex employment situations. The experiences I gained from spending 10 years litigating employment law claims and administrative complaints, on behalf of Hawaii employers, have enabled me to assist employers in understanding and remaining compliant with state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations.
At HEC, we provide various seminars and training programs for Hawaii employers on all areas of Human Resources management.
We provide both in-house training and seminars at our offices. Topics covered include basic employment laws, supervisory duties, correcting poor performance, investigations, union campaigns, conducting performance appraisals, interviews, sexual and other forms of harassment, leave law issues, as well as other areas of labor and employment law that are currently topical.
